4/13/26: Confidence Isn’t Built Before Action—It’s Built Because of It

Have you ever waited to take action because you thought you needed more confidence first?

It’s easy to believe you need to have confidence to take action, but that isn’t true.

Confidence grows as a result of action.

The first step is scary, but you find a way to do it.  The next step is a little easier, you have momentum.  As you keep taking steps, momentum pushes you forward and confidence builds. And if you really think about it, that first brave 💪🏼 action started that build of confidence to keep moving forward.

Inaction robs us of results.

I think back to my time in social selling.  Sending booking and recruiting messages were one of the most “painful” aspects of business.  These were the most crucial steps to success, but my least favorite.  What I found was, once I started making those asks, it got easier and easier.  And when I got a “yes”, it would push me to go beyond the bar I had set for myself.

Action drove my confidence.

The same thing can be said for choosing to launch my own business.

I had coaching on my head and heart for at least three years, but lacked the confidence to begin.

It started so simple-
I am going to become a coach.
I am going to announce this to my existing audience.
I am going to offer these services.

The confidence I show up with now, one year later, is not the confidence I had in early 2025.

The confidence I show up with today was built through action – making presentations, coaching clients, working with community partners.

Think about your confidence level.

Is it low?  Is it high?

Why is your confidence level where it is?

Is it high because you are a person of action, and because of that you have gotten results?

Is it low because you hold yourself back and you haven’t seen the benefits of action?

Take some time for thoughtful reflection.  Consider these questions ☝🏼

Then decide what action you can take to increase your confidence.

I am in the process of refining my keynote presentation on “Burnout, Boundaries, and Balance”, contacting potential clients, and reworking my pricing.
