9/15/25: The World Feels Heavy
I think we can all agree, the world feels heavy right now. I rarely dig into anything political, religious, or highly polarizing. Not because I’m ashamed of my viewpoints, but because sadly we now live in a world where people can’t agree to disagree, and I don’t feel like I should have to defend my beliefs and values. I do think it’s time to say-as a world, we need to do better!
Why do we live in a world where death is celebrated, simply because they held beliefs that were not ours? Why do we cancel or cut people out simply for believing differently? Why do we continue to let hate breed hate? Just imagine if we made the choice to give each other grace and bred love and forgiveness.
I spent last Wednesday talking about adult emotions with my 13 year old daughter, realizing at that moment that enough people don’t teach their kids that sympathy and sameness do not go hand in hand. I’ve spent the past week thinking about how hard it is raising children in this world and fearful for the world my kids will raise their kids in. I truly believe we need to do better, not just for ourselves and the relationships we have, but for our kids, and their kids, and their kids’ kids. We need to rediscover our humanity and humility.
I know not everyone will agree with me, and that’s okay—that’s the point. We should be able to disagree and still respect one another. I respect opposing views, IF those views don’t take steps toward stripping others of their dignity, rights, or life. I would hope readers give me the same respect. If we want to build better businesses, stronger families, and a world our kids can thrive in, it starts with rediscovering our humanity and humility.
