2/16/26: Why So Many Women Stay Busy—but Don’t Move Forward
Picture it 📸 It is the end of the day, you’re having that “how was your day and what did you do?” conversation with your spouse. You list about 100 things you did-ran this errand, did this chore, etc. At that moment, you realize you were busy-but did you move forward?
Do you ever wonder why women are so busy, but often don’t seem to be moving forward?
Often, we want to point the finger at a lack of motivation, or maybe a lack of discipline, but when you think deeply about it, a lack of clarity is probably at the root of the issue. Women stay “busy” without their lack of clarity. For this to be true, you don’t have to be running a business.
Looking back to when social selling was my “full-time” job, it was also the same time I started to fall out of love with what I was doing (the process, not the product). I would start the day with a goal of sending so many booking messages, doing customer follow ups, etc., but because I didn’t love those actions anymore, I would allow myself to get sidetracked with other business or personal activities.
At the end of the day, I would say “I organized the office”, “I created graphics”, “I did all the laundry”, or whatever it may have been that made it sound like I had a very active day, but really, I did busy work because I lacked clarity. At that time, the clarity I lacked was that I no longer loved what I was doing, therefore I was not motivated to do the work.
The same could be said for the early days of my coaching business. I knew I wanted to be a coach, I knew who I wanted to serve, and what the end goal was, but really I didn’t know much else. I was incredibly motivated! I knew I had the discipline…I mean HELLO, I coach tactics toward self-discipline, but what I found out as I started my journey was that I lacked clarity.
It took 20-weeks in the ILT Academy, incredible mentors, some months of experience, and a lot of self-realization for me to find the clarity needed to start moving forward.
Here is an example of what clarity looked like – I love working one-on-one! I want to build connections and dig deep into someone’s life and business and talk about it with them, BUT it took time to realize it would be difficult to get one-on-one connections without doing group presentations such as workshops and public speaking engagements. This is not necessarily where I feel most connected to women, although I enjoy it, but I realized it is the clearest path to where I ultimately want to be.
Sometimes we’re in motion before we gain our clarity, and that is okay. Part of life and business is learning from miscues and missteps. Sometimes, we think we are in motion but we really aren’t because we lack clarity. What we need in that situation is an “aha” moment to move us to motion.
